Missy Sheldrake is a resident potter at Manassas clay who has a deep love for wildlife and nature. She studied painting and illustration at Western Connecticut State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Art. During her high school and college years, Missy was the lead studio assistant to renowned ceramicist Elizabeth MacDonald in Bridgewater, CT.
Missy relocated to Virginia in 2004 to be with her husband, who has since supported her through many artistic endeavors including mural painting and novel writing (she has written and published 7 fantasy novels) until she returned to her heart’s true place: pottery.
Missy currently lives in Centreville with her husband, Penn State-bound son, and their spunky little dog, Angel. Her favorite animals are opossums, foxes, and capybaras. When she isn’t up to her elbows in clay, she loves to swim laps at the community pool and take nature hikes. She’s really excited to start this new chapter at Foxley Atelier!

Locally she shows and sells her pottery at Manassas Clay in Manassas and at Possum-bilities in Fredericksburg.

Maddie Irving
POTTERY INSTRUCTOR
Maddie has lived a life surrounded by art and a family who has supported her creative endeavors, no matter the medium. She has dabbled in charcoal sketching, oil painting, crocheting, knitting, photography, jewelry making, and has found her true love in pottery. What began as a pandemic hobby, with a small wheel from Amazon on her patio in Atlanta, has now blossomed into her passion. She has dedicated her time to studying the history of the craft, experimenting with new techniques, and being a part of a community of artists.
Her professional career included many avenues such as healthcare, data, and research, but art has been the true constant throughout her life. In her time outside of the studio, she enjoys being outside, spending time with her husband and their pets, baking, and reading.
